All Set for Sinulog Festival ’15

The word Sinulog comes from the Cebuano adverb sulog which roughly means “like water current movement;” it describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance.

Sinulog Festival is one of the most anticipated festival in the Philippines which is held in honor of the holy child Sto Niño. The festival is held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, Philippines. The Sinulog commemorates the Filipino’s acceptance of Christianity and their rejection of the former Pagan beliefs.

The Festival usually last for a nine day period and of the many highlights of this festivity is the Grand Street Parade that last for an entire day with participants coming from different town and cities of Cebu and from different provinces across the whole country. Contingents are dressed in bright coloured costumes dancing gracefully to the rhythm of drums, trumpets and native gongs.

An article about this Festival was published on Balikbayan Magazine using my previous photo of the said event.

And for the rest of the scheduled activity you may visit here.
